The Alternatives to Violence Project at Franklin Central School welcomed thirteen new Youth Facilitators in early 2016. They had graduated from three multi-day workshops throughout the 2015 school year in which they learned alternatives to violence through shared discussions, experiential activities, and interactive role plays. They look forward to running 2016 workshops for new participants. They have shown commitment to building community within the school district and to practicing random acts of kindness. F.S.C. is very excited to have them help to grow our AVP program.
On March 11, 2016, three student AVP Facilitators ran a one day mini-workshop -- on building community, developing conflict resolution skills, and seeking common -- ground for employees of Delaware County Public Health. They amazed the adults with their facilitation and leadership skills. The employees reported that they would use what they learned from the experience within the work environment and in their personal lives. If you are interested in learning more about our youth staff-building, please contact Noelle Granger, Coordinator, at 518-829-3551. AVP is for people of all ages and we would be happy to share!
